Another miracle gets drink driving ban
It’s amazing, fantastic, and almost unbelievable, yet we have witnessed yet another miracle as a footballer gets done for drunk-driving, and solicitor Bill McVicar said Ryan McGuffie, 27, of Broomfield Drive, Dumfries, who was caught by police outside his home on 10 February, did not normally have anything to do with drink, which had perhaps contributed to the effects a few drinks had on him.
You have to marvel at the stunning efficiency of the police operatiion that was able to spend the time and resources on catching this drunk on that rare occasion when he chose to get behind the wheel of his car while tanked up to more than double the legal alcohol limit.
Merely banned for 12 months and fined £500 is a pittance for such a character, especially as he is the footballer that scored Gretna’s in the Scottish Cup final, before transferring to Greenock in January, so the kids will be looking up to him.
This sentence means nothing to someone like this, that doesn’t care what harm they could do while incapable, and even a few weeks behind bars, just to disrupt his life and work in full public view should have been imposed to send out the right message to drunks like this.
